The article titled “Waste-to-waste valorization: Sustainable palladium recovery from real spent catalytic converter leachates using chicken feathers” has been published in Waste Management.
This study presents an innovative hydrometallurgical process for recovering palladium from real spent automotive catalytic converter leachates using keratin-rich chicken feathers as biosorbents. The method represents a sustainable and low-cost alternative to conventional separation techniques, achieving high palladium selectivity and recovery even under harsh acidic conditions. The work contributes to circular economy strategies by valorizing two waste streams and enabling the recovery of critical raw materials.
